Since I noticed that I RARELY draw backgrounds I decided to do a 30 day background challenge!!!!!
I hope Darla and Stacy (the girls walking) will keep me motivated to do this! Please lazyness don’t overcome me!

Not Making It
Growing up, the most frustrating thing with not being a professional artist was that nobody else could see my work. I wanted to put on a show, make people laugh, tell them stories and the movies wouldn’t have me. The comic syndicates wouldn’t have me. My heroes at the Walt Disney Studios wouldn’t have me.
Given mainstream media did not pan out to be a home for me I went into independent comics, television animation (where the standards were much lower than features) and video games. These were all compromises, to some degree, but they were profitable and fun. It didn’t matter, because feature work would come. It just didn’t come the way I expected.Fast forward to the internet age and the greatest frustration that I knew growing up as an artist is gone for most of this generation’s artistry. If I didn’t get a paper to publish me in 1980, you wouldn’t know about my work. But if I had the internet to publish my comic for free, I might remain poor but I would have an audience! And the audience is what it’s all about.
Given you’re reading this in 2015 and not 1980 you should be thankful that you have the world’s greatest distribution arm at your fingertips right now. You can animate, write, draw and communicate and the biggest limitation isn’t some big goon in an office stopping you from reaching your audience. You are your biggest limitation. I like those odds.

Hi guys! Sorry for being so inactive lately, but this semester I have been working on my senior thesis. For this final project I decided to do my own rendition of the folk tale, Hansel & Gretel, but as imagined as an animated film! I will be uploading some more stuff in the coming days, but this is the bulk of it :) Enjoy!

I kept this philosophy all though college and then as soon as I got out I dropped it for some reason. I’ve been constantly criticizing myself. I’ve been really down as a result. This really works.
